Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital organized Liver Transplant Clinic. This great initiative by Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital was taken to provide free checkup and counselling to the liver transplant patients. Patients from all over Pakistan contacted, out of which 30 liver transplant patients were short-listed based on severity of their cases.

At Liver Transplant Clinic, a highly competent and an eminent Turkish Transplant Surgeon Professor Dr. Remzi Emiroglu from Acibadem Healthcare Group, Turkey, provided free checkup and counselling to Liver Transplant patients and gave them further guidelines for leading a better and healthy life. Dr. Remzi Emiroglu is a Professor of Surgery, Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant. He is incharge of Turkish Association Organ Transplantation and the part of Middle East Association Organ Transplantation and International Liver Transplantation Society. He is one of the best Liver Transplant Surgeons and has the experience of several successful liver transplant procedures.

Dr. Remzi also appreciated the initiative of Liver Transplant Clinic and shared his insights about Liver Diseases in Pakistan. He said'I know the situation in Pakistan very well, a lot of people in the country are suffering from Liver Diseases. Starting point is always very important and Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital is the best place for taking such initiatives, a hospital where people want to do something. You need a collaboration and for me, Pakistani and Turkish people are brothers, so we have to help each other'.

Liver Diseases in Pakistan are very common and of major concern. More than thirteen million people in country are suffering from various liver diseases out of which about one million are in dire need of Liver Transplant. Pakistan is also the sixthlargest Hepatitis-infected country and alarmingly it has second highest prevalence rate of Hepatitis C.

Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital believes that facilitation to patients is very important and wants to contribute for the betterment of health industry as well. Apart from providing basic services and healthcare facilities to patients, Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital aims to create a knowledge and skill based environment. It envisionscreatinga knowledge corridor, not only for the hospital itself, but also for the healthcare industry at large.
