Dr gave salt and water injection; MISCONDUCT.

A DOCTOR injected a patient with salt and water to "placate" a nurse and then tried to hide the evidence, it has emerged.

A Medical Council inquiry heard Dr Lee Seng Khoo failed to give an elderly woman a prescribed antibiotic, instead giving a saline solution.

It happened while working at Sligo General Hospital last August.

The Malaysian doctor was found guilty of professional misconduct by a Fitness To Practise Committee Of The Irish Medical Council.

The three-person committee recommended the Medical Council issue a EUR2,500 fine and suspend his licence to practise for three months.
