Dr Miriam: Shamed by flat nipples.

Byline: Miriam Stoppard

MY nipples go in and don't stick out like puppies' noses. Why?

Is there anything I can do? I'm 33 and have been married for three years.

I THINK you might have inverted nipples and, provided they have always been inverted, they aren't a problem, so don't worry.

An inverted nipple shows as a slit or hole in the breast at the centre of the nipple and it's normally possible to pull the nipple out with your fingers - have you tried that when you dress and undress?

Until recently, the only cure was surgery, freeing the milk ducts under anaesthetic. Now, often, suction will do the job.

Worn tucked into your bra day and night, the Niplette painlessly sucks your nipple out into a small, thimble-shaped cup.

Your tissue is gradually stretched and, in one to three months of continuous wear, your nipple should stay permanently erect.

Niplettes can also be used to correct flat or small nipples. Women wishing only to improve the size and erectness of their nipples should also see good results.

You can buy Niplette from a chemist.
