Doyle rides Flag in Singapore.

BRETT DOYLE, based in Hong Kong, will ride the former Paul Cole-trained Carry The Flag in the pounds 360,000 Singapore Gold Cup on Sunday.

Carry The Flag, second to Leggera in a Listed race at Ayr last time out, only arrived in Singapore last Friday.

Australian trainer Michael Kent said: "He cost a bit, but the Gold Cup is the premier race here and we wanted to bring him in as late as possible.

"Paul [Cole] continued to work him and he is in good shape. We think he has a real chance."

Doyle, who has ridden in Hong Kong for two years, was engaged by Kent because he wanted an English rider.

Doyle said: "The offer came out of the blue but I am very pleased. He must have some sort of a chance and it's a very big race out here."
