Down but not out, part II.
Heber Springs trailed Marianna-Lee 30-0 with 8:10 left go in the first half of important 4A-2 conference game, but the Panthers didn't quit. They scored a touchdown and 2-point conversion to pull to within 22 at 30-8 with 5:56 left in the second quarter. The score remained that way at the half as Panther coach Steve Janski challenged his team.
Scoring touchdowns on a 2-yard run and 2-point conversion run by Braylon Milohell with 9:14 to go in the third. Mitchell added a 1-yard and another 2-point conversion with 11:57 left to close the gap to 30-24. The comeback was completed when Panther quarterback Wes McMullen hit receiver Keegan McPherson for a 53-yard touchdown pass with 3:20 left in the contest to tie things up. Mitchell added his fourth 2-point conversion of the game to set the final score of 32-30.
On the night, Mitchell finished with four 2-point conversion runs and 125 yards rushing. He also caught Heber Springs' first touchdown pass. He scored 26 of the Panthers 32 points.
