Dougray lands a role he mitre been made for.
The Scot will appear as doomed Thomas Becket, opposite Jasper Britton as King Henry II.
It's been four years since Dougray trod the boards. He's been far too busy appearing in blockbuster movies like Mission Impossible II and Enigma.
But he admitted the part in Jean Anouilh's Becket in London's West End was too good to miss.
He said: 'Does theatre scare me? Yes, but nerves are useful, they keep you sharp. If a footballer is complacent before he walks out onto a pitch in front of 50,000 people, then he's in trouble.'
Meanwhile, heartthrob Joe McFadden has grown his hair and a beard to play legendary artist Raphael - becoming a dead ringer for Travis frontman Fran Healy.
The former High Road star takes on the role of the Italian painter for a docudrama on BBC1 this week.
Joe: As Raphael (or is it Fran?); Holy row: Dougray Scott as Becket, top, and Britton as King Henry II
