Doubleday to publish book by Pope Benedict.
Doubleday, the US publisher that sold Dan Brown's book The Da Vinci Code, will also market in the US a book by Pope Benedict, the first volume of which details Christ's life from his baptism in the River Jordan.
The Vatican has previously criticised Brown's book, which suggested that Jesus fathered a child with Mary Magdalene. The Da Vinci Code was also turned into a movie starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou.
According to Reuters, the Vatican sold worldwide distribution rights to Italy's Rizzoli which "independently" awarded Doubleday the US rights, the Vatican's publishing house said.
