Double win for town as Eutectic seeks new HQ.

Swiss engineering company Eutectic is to sell its UK headquarters in Redditch after deciding to move to new premises in the town.

Chartered surveyor Mr John Truslove has been engaged by Eutectic to find them a new base.

He said: 'This is a particularly important development for the town on two counts - it makes available a significant office and warehouse building and creates the rare opportunity to attract a major employer, whether from within the UK or from abroad

'We will be liaising with the local authorities and investment agencies to secure a major sale, at the same time as finding Eutectic the right premises.'

Offers around pounds 2.15 million are being sought for the 2.8-acre freehold site and buildings at Ravensbank Drive, North Moons Moat.

Eutectic chief financial officer Mr Steve Parker said: 'We are committed to remaining within the town as we have skills and capabilities within our workforce which we need to retain.

'But our needs have changed since we moved into Redditch from Feltham in Middlesex 11 years ago.'

'A business that our group had a share in has been sold and moved out, and this accounted for about one third of the office space we occupied.'

He added: 'The business is changing shape and our operation here has moved from having some manufacturing on site, to concentrating on being a distributor of engineering equipment and consumables for products manufactured in the group' s plants overseas, so although we are expanding we now find we need less space.'
