Double trouble... ...for line painters.

WHEN these drivers parked their cars, they weren't parked on double yellow lines.

And when they returned, they still weren't - but only just.

Because the determined council painter did the job at either end - and in between!

The unusual scene was spotted in Raby Road, Hartlepool.

A red Citroen and a black Vauxhall Corsa were parked nose-to-nose, with just a few feet between them. But that was space enough to fit some teensy weensy yellow lines.

A Hartlepool Council spokesperson said: "We are creating a new section of double yellow lines on Raby Road.

"Unfortunately, when our contractor carried out the work, there were a number of cars parked in the area.

"The contractor will be returning in the near future to complete the work."
