Double Diamond nets double-digit growth.

Despite a 10-percent overall sales decline in the United States beer import category, Associated Importers reported record sales in this country for Great Britain's Double Diamond ale during the past year.

According to Ken Russell, Double Diamond brand manager at Associated, sales increased in excess of 42 percent over the past year. "The brand, which during its history had been one of England's top-selling ales, is running well ahead of projections this year as well," Russell said.

The beer, which is available in draught as well as bottles, is a favorite in many English-type taverns and restaurants, Russell continued. "Our prime objective in the U.S. was to expand our keg business and we have been very successful in increasing our share of draught accounts nationally," he said.

"Double Diamond is one of the best commercially brewed imported ale scurrently available in the United States today," Russell claimed. "This has been substantiated by our phenomenal sales for 1991."
