Dossin wins Argerich Piano competition.

MTNA member Alexandre Dossin recently received the first prize and the special prize for the best performance of the Sonatina Espanola by J.J. Castro during the second Martha Argerich International Piano Competition in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Dossin, who is assistant professor of music at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, performed four times during the competition: two solo recitals, one chamber performance and one concerto with orchestra.

After the competition, Dossin was invited to participate in the Martha Argerich Festival, performing with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Charles Dutoit. He has been invited to participate in the Martha Argerich Festival in May 2005 in Japan.

Dossin, who joined the UW-Eau Claire music department last year, has performed in fifteen countries during the last twenty years and is a prizewinner in several national and international piano competitions, including the silver medal in the Maria Callas Grand Prix in Athens, Greece. He also was awarded the third prize and special prize at the Mozart International Piano Competition in Salzburg, Austria.
