Doral Telluride plans opening.
Doral Telluride plans openingThe gloomy, grey winter weather has decended on New York but the folks at Doral are preparing a weekend to remember for those who can look forward to the summer.
The Doral's Telluride Resort and Spa, now under construction in the powder capital of the ski world, Telluride, Colorado, will be opening its doors for Memorial Day Weekend, May 22. Director of Sales and Marketing Tom Hess expects some opening celebration for that weekend but most of the excitement, he said, is focusing on the Gala Opening which that take place July 4th weekend.
The Gala Opening weekend will be held against a backdrop of fireworks, an annual Telluride ski race held high up in lush mountains capped with snow, dancing and eating. "When the fireworks go off, the mountains light up," Hess said, noting that the entire town was sold out last year for the weekend.
Several bands will be playing throughout the hotel, said Hess. "Each room will have a theme," he said. It will be very gala, including a special dinner, and will culminate in a major celebration in the ballroom at midnight."
The entire weekend is expected to cost around $2,000 per couple.
Regular room rates begin at $175 for the summer and go up from $300 during the peak ski season. Fractional ownership has also been approved for the hotel and qualified buyers will be buying five-week share but unlike a time-share, Hess said, each buyer will be a limited partner. The average cost is around $60,000.
