Dons keep Chris.

JIMMY CALDERWOOD last night admitted Aberdeen fans would have been enraged if Chris Maguire had quit the club.

But the Dons tied up the 19-year-old on a deal until 2011.

Calderwood said: "Chris is the biggest name coming out of our youth system and it would not have looked good for Aberdeen if we had lost him.

"People were already talking about him moving to Coventry and a few other clubs but we now have him locked up for the next three years which is great."

Striker Maguire spent every day of the summer in the gym after advice from Calderwood to toughen up.

He said: "I'm happy at Aberdeen and happy to have signed another deal. I'm in good shape after my gym work."
