Donovan to give talk on White Album.

Byline: RICHIE TAYLOR

SIXTIES star Donovan is to give a lecture on The Beatles' White Album.

The legend, whose hits include Colours and Sunshine Superman, was at a retreat in India with the band when they wrote most of the songs for the 1968 double album.

Donovan, 67, who has lived in Mallow, Co Cork, for nearly three decades, taught John Lennon his unique finger-picking guitar style.

He used the technique on songs such as Dear Prudence and Julia.

Other stars on the retreat included actress Mia Farrow and her sister Prudence - about whom Dear Prudence was written - and Mike Love of The Beach Boys.

Donovan will give his talk at Trinity College Dublin on October 21.
