Done pitches in for golf villas; Something before the weekend.
THE Fly on the Wall hears that a 7.5 per cent stake in SIS was not the only item on Fred Done's personal shopping list while he took in the Dubai World Cup meeting.
He also made time to snap up four yet-to-be-built villas adjoining the new Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course. Neither he nor wife Mo swings a club, but both have promised to learn.
Meanwhile, fellow bookmakers are busily preparing odds about which will prove the sounder investment - a slice of SIS or another parcel of land in the UAE, where Done is eagerly awaiting completion and handover of a penthouse suite and a villa on The Palm.
Incidentally, the Fly understands that the same block of SIS shares, which set Done back over pounds 8 million, were simultaneously offered to but turned down by Coral. Maybe they are hoping that something even bigger, and more expensive, comes on the market.
