Doncasters Buys New England Investment Caster.
The 84-employee facility produces nickel and steel alloy investment castings and has vacuum- and air-casting technology. The business produces complex high-temperature engine parts including nozzles, casings, rings and other structural components.
The acquisition, to be named Doncasters Precision Castings-New England, complements existing operations in the U.K. and Germany that manufacture structural castings and precision airfoils for gas turbine OEMs worldwide.
Doncasters is one of the world's largest producers of gas turbine airfoils with casting operations in Europe and finish machining operations in New England, Georgia and the U.K. The acquired facility has unused capacity that will be used to increase Doncasters' production of cast airfoils. This is a new product area for the acquired facility. Airfoils then will be supplied to Doncasters' nearby operations in Connecticut for finish machining.
"We are experiencing unprecedented demand from the industrial gas turbine sector, particularly in North America," said CEO Ian Dillamore. "Doncasters Precision Castings-New England has outstanding growth potential for our core turbine products--castings, airfoils and structural components--in the heartland of the largest gas turbine market in the world. This facility greatly strengthens our 'one-stop-shop' capability and provides significant through-selling opportunities."
