Donald Hawkins.

LANCASTER - Donald P. Hawkins, 59, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 7, after being stricken ill.

He is survived by his parents, Nathaniel C. Hawkins Jr. and Betty Ann (Ernst) Hawkins; brother, Nathaniel C. "Bud" Hawkins III and his wife, Sandra; sister, Denise Hawkins Aldrich and her husband, Peter Weis, all of Lancaster; his nieces and nephews, Madison and Kelsey Hawkins, Ryan and Rebecca Aldrich, Lori Dearborn and husband, Thomas, and his two beagle companions, Amos and Zoe.

He is pre-deceased by his nephew, Cammeron Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins was born in Clinton, raised in Lancaster and attended local schools. He was a graduate of the Nashoba Regional High School, Class of 1971, where he was a standout athlete in football, track and gymnastics. He was a career self-employed equipment operator as owner of Hawkins Excavating Comany in Lancaster for more than 30 years. He was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

As Mr. Hawkins requested, funeral services are to be held privately with interment in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton. Contributions may be made in memory of Donald P. Hawkins to: Lancaster Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 403, Lancaster, MA 01523 or to Lancaster Police Association, 1053 Main St., Lancaster, MA 01523.
