Sir, - If past experience has anything to go by, Stephen Byers will soon be enjoying the benefits of a cushy job in the heart of Europe.
Brussels is the usual place for disgraced or failed professional politicians to reap a fortune at our expense. Perhaps in a few years time Tony Blair may be his new boss, yet again, as he aspires to become the first president of a Federal United States of Europe.
