Don't forget your 2011 delegate credentials.
While you're packing your bags for the "The Big Easy" this summer, don't forget your delegate credentials. The 90th DAV and Auxiliary National Convention will be held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, Aug. 6-9, and you will need delegate credentials to represent your Department, Chapter or Auxiliary Unit.
Properly credentialed delegates help ensure an accurate accounting of the will and concern of DAV's membership," said National Adjutant Arthur H. Wilson. "All DAV and Auxiliary delegates attending our National Convention must obtain proper credentials to be seated as voting delegates representing their Department, Chapter or Unit."
According to National Membership Director Anthony Baskerville, the electoral process is key to the future of the DAV and Auxiliary.
"The National Membership Department works hard to provide delegate credentials in a timely fashion because participation in these elections is critical to both the DAV and our Auxiliary," Baskerville said. ""We are prepared to assist anyone in order to make the process of obtaining credentials as easy and accurate as possible."
Details of the credentialing process are mailed to all Departments and Chapters and Auxiliary State Departments and Units well in advance of the National Convention. The April Membership Memo is scheduled to include all necessary forms needed for credentialing. The forms must be signed by the Commander and Adjutant of the delegate's appropriate Department or Chapter or Auxiliary State Department or Unit.
All subordinate organizations of the DAV should select delegates and alternates as soon as forms arrive and be sure to get the lists of delegates and alternates to National Headquarters before the July 8 deadline.
Remember, guests are also welcome to attend the many convention business sessions and all planned social functions. Guests may register at the DAV Registration Desk.
There is a $25 registration fee for all delegates, alternate delegates and guests. Registration is free for guests 18 and under.
