The new Patrioticard unveiled in June by Onda Expansiva is a discount card distributed to the magazine's 2,800 subscribers. At its launch, about 15 retail outlets, including the Coco Pacheco restaurant, some travel agencies and a few hair salons, were offering 10% to 15% discounts to Patrioticard holders.
Eduardo Arevalo, communications chief for Corporacion 11 de Septiembre, the not surprisingly pro-Pinochet think tank that produces Onda Expansiva says," Interestingly, most of the locales have approached us."
Corporacion 11 de Septiembre also oversees the production of Capitan General wines, the labels of which are graced with a small drawing of Pinochet. The profits from wine sales currently finance the magazine, which Arevalo acknowledges" doesn't have a lot of advertising."
The mission of Corporacion 11 de Septiembre is "to maintain the image of the government of the Armed Forces and of General Pinochet, highlighting all its values, its nationalism and its patriotism."
