Domino's Pizza, Inc. Selects The Work Number from TALX Corp. for Outsourced Salary and Employment Verification.

ST. LOUIS, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 2, 1998--TALX Corp. (NASDAQ:TALX) today announced that Domino's Pizza, Inc. has selected The Work Number(R) service and TALX as its outsourced provider of salary and employment verifications.

Now, Domino's current and former corporate employees, a total of 50,000, will be able use this automated service to receive instant confirmation of their employment and salary when they need this information to secure a loan or for other purposes.

"After we converted our human resources operations to PeopleSoft's Human Resources software, we had an opportunity to streamline many of our human resources administrative processes," said Jennifer Rossi, HRIS development coordinator, Domino's Pizza, Inc. "Outsourcing our employment and salary verifications to The Work Number automated service is one way in which we were able to alleviate some of this administrative burden."

"It's particularly gratifying when world-class organizations such as Domino's select TALX as their outsourced provider of employment and salary verification," said Bill Canfield, president and CEO of TALX. "As a PeopleSoft partner, TALX offers users of PeopleSoft the opportunity to integrate The Work Number into their existing PeopleSoft environment. In fact, we're proud to claim PeopleSoft Inc. among our many clients using The Work Number service," he added.

Since TALX established The Work Number service three years ago, the number of records on the database and the transaction income associated with these records has climbed steadily with transaction revenue up 150 percent since last year.

About The Work Number

Organizations that outsource salary verification using The Work Number service include: The State of California, Hewlett-Packard, JC Penney, Microsoft, Motorola, Procter & Gamble, Quaker Oats, Sears Roebuck & Co., the State of Florida, the State of Missouri, Sun Microsystems, Tenet Healthcare Corp., and United States Dept. of Agriculture (USDA). The payroll records of these and other employers are combined on one national database of nearly 20 million records.

The initial cost for companies to add their payroll records to The Work Number database and thereby outsource verification transactions to TALX is nominal. Organizations with 5,000 to 20,000 employees will typically incur less than $20,000 for services over a three-year relationship period. Typically before a lender grants a loan, it contacts the loan applicant's employer to verify the applicant's employment and salary.

Companies that employ thousands of people are deluged with such requests for information and incur significant administrative costs to process them. The Work Number service offers employers an automated solution by allowing companies to feed their payroll records into a national database. With appropriate security clearances, lenders and other organizations can access the database automatically to verify the information.
