Domestic abuse services' support; WALES newsbulletin.

DOMESTIC abuse services are to benefit from more than pounds 4m of Welsh Government funding.

Carl Sargeant, Local Government and Communities Minister, confirmed pounds 4.16m will be available as part of the Domestic Abuse Services Grant Scheme. The scheme gives grants to voluntary organisations and community safety partnerships in Wales offering domestic abuse support to help provide key facilities.

Mr Sargeant said: "These organisations work tirelessly to take victims out of harm's way and help them to rebuild their lives. I am pleased to be able to ensure that this work continues during 2012-13."

Welsh Women's Aid is one of the organisations to benefit. Chief executive Paula Hardy said: "This is further evidence of the Welsh Government's ongoing commitment to tackling violence against women, including domestic abuse."
