Domenici will speak at NLC conference.

Sen. Pete V. Domenici (R-N.M.), ranking minority member of the Senate Budget Committee, will be a panelist at the "Federal Budget Priorities and Deficit Reduction Strategies" plenary session, Monday, March 8, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., at the upcoming Congressional-City Conference.

Also, Ira Magaziner, senior advisor to the President for Policy Development, will speak at the health care legislative workshop during the conference.

The workshop, "National Health Care Reform: A Legislative Prospective," will take place Monday, March 8 from 2:15 pm to 4:00 pm in the Jefferson Room of the Washington Hilton Hotel.

President Clinton announced the establishment of the Presidential Task Force on Health Care Reform last month. The goal of the task force is to develop a plan for high quality, affordable health care for all Americans.

Magaziner will lead an interdepartmental working group which will coordinate policy development for the task force. The task force will work cooperatively with members of Congress as well as state, city and county officials in developing its proposals.

The Clinton Administration has opened the door to the real possibility that the nation's health care system will be revamped to ensure universal access to quality, affordable and accessible health care services. The issues are complex, the costs enormous and the political philosophies diverse.
