Dolan Media buys legal directories, news service & newspaper.
Dolan Media (Minneapolis, NN) has finalized the purchase of publishing properties in three different deals, including the acquisition of 11 local and regional legal directories from 1-800-Attorney, Inc. (Lake Helen, FL). Dolan has also purchased Oklahoma Stateline, a capitol news service, from Journal Record Legislative Report (Oklahoma City, OK) and construction daily newspaper The Daily Journal of Commerce from Guide Publishing Co. (Gretna, LA). No terms for any of the deals were given.Dolan has acquired 11 legal directories from 1-800-Attorneys, Inc. published for local legal markets in Milwaukee, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Minneapolis, Seattle, Austin, and Nashville, regional legal markets in central and southern Maryland and northern Virginia, and a statewide directory for North Carolina. The directories provide listings of members of the bar, information on local governments, courts and judicial officers, and advertising and listings of legal vendors. All of the directories are published annually.
Also, Dolan Media's Journal Record Publishing Co. (JRPC; Oklahoma City, OK) acquired the assets of online capitol news service Oklahoma State--line, which will be merged with JRPC's Oklahoma Business News news service. The merged services, renamed Journal Record Legislative Report, is being relaunched to coincide with the opening of the 2003 Oklahoma Legislature. Dolan said the new multi--media service will be the state's only provider of real--time audio simulcasting of legislative proceedings. Editorial for the new service will include: voting cluster analysis; legislative ' success rates' for specific issues; and, progressive calculation of each bill's statistical chance of final passage.
Dolan has also acquired the Daily Journal of Commerce (Gretna, LA), the largest construction business daily in the South, Dolan said, from Guide Publishing Co. The 92--year--old broad--sheet newspaper is published five days a week and covers construction news and developments from Louisiana and Mississippi. Dolan said the deal also includes the assets of the defunct New Orleans Skipping Guide, a newspaper that covered the Port of New Orleans.
