Dogs think woofly the same as us; SCIENCE.

DOGS think about treats in exactly the same way as their owners, experts say.

In the first test of its kind, scientists offered two dogs treats and gave their brains an MRI scan.

They found an identical part of the brain, the caudate region, is active when both humans and dogs anticipate a reward.

Prof Gregory Berns, who led the US study at Emory University, Georgia, said: "It was amazing to see the first brain images of a fully awake dog."

It was part of a series of experiments to find out how dogs think.

Prof Berns added: "We hope this opens up a whole new door in canine cognition. We want to understand the humandog relationship from the dog's perspective."
