Dog was left to die.

ANIMAL welfare officers are hunting for a sick thug who left a pet dog to fend for herself on the streets for five months.

Tara the German Shepherd lost nearly 30 kilos after being kicked out by her cruel owner to scavenge on the streets of Cowdenbeath, Fife.

But the pooch is now battling back despite collapsing from starvation after being rescued by kennel owners.

Sylvia Pass, boss of Langdyke Boarding Kennels, Leven, said: "I hope the person responsible will be brought to book."
