Dog Racing: Savvana marches into final; LAST NIGHT'S REPORTS.

Byline: Peter Meldrum

FEAR ME, ante-post favourite for the Blue Riband, was a shock elimination from the William Hill-sponsored event at Hall Green last night, writes Peter Meldrum.

As low as 4-7 with off-course firms in the morning, the jolly went to traps an uneasy 10-11 chance with on-course bookmakers keen to 'get him'.

At trap rise Oh My Nerves took a flyer and, as he did in his heat, immediately made for the rails badly crowding Fear Me in the process.

With the favourite stuck in the pack, it was left to Iceman Vader to give chase and Lance Burford's dog was to prove too strong for the pacesetter. Passing the leader on the run in he went on to score by a three parts of a length in 28.56sec with the favourite finishing well, but failing by half a length to catch the tiring Oh My Nerves.

Droopys Nelson, a Pricewise pick yesterday at 9-2 for his semi, carries an unblemished record through to next Tuesday's live-on-Sky final after making all to comfortably win the second eliminator. Dilemmas Flight finished best of the others to take second place, but she was well over four lengths behind the 28.48sec winner.

Pricewise followers had further cause for cheer when Savanna Highlands, our 16-1 headline pick ante-post, overcame a tardy take the final semi in style.

Charlie Lister's lightly raced dog showed an impressive turn of pace and, despite an awkward trap four draw for the final, is the likely market-leader for the pounds 10,000 decider.

Draw for next Tuesday's live-on-Sky final:

1 Fear Armani 2 Iceman Vader 3 Droopys Nelson 4 Savanna Highlands (m) 5 Oh My Nerves (m) 6 Dilemmas Flight (w).
