Does Estee Lauder have its eye on YSL?

* A couple of months ago Estee Lauder strengthened its link to the fashion world by signing on Tom Ford, the fashion icon who helped resurrect the Yves Saint Laurent brands while he was at PPR. Now, Lauder may be interested in acquiring the beauty care business of YSL from PPR.

However, while PPR wants to sell-off the entire YSL division, Lauder is only interested in the beauty segment. PPR declined to comment. The company is a leading retail group in Europe, and is a major player in the luxury goods sector through Gucci.
