Business Editors/Health & Medical Writers

DURHAM, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2001

Doctors Health Plan announced today that Dr. Steven Scott would continue as chief executive officer with the departure of president George Stokes.

Chief Financial Officer John Catalano will assume additional responsibilities as chief operating officer. The interim management team of Scott and Catalano will run day-to-day operations. "The healthcare industry currently is experiencing tremendous growth as well as consolidation and George Stokes provided guidance to move the plan forward both operationally and financially. The plan will continue to provide members with a high quality of service," said Dr. Scott.

In January 2000 Stokes moved from Kaiser Permanente's North Carolina operations to Doctors Health Plan. He has also worked at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston and served as director of planning and reproductive health for the Boston Department of Health and Hospitals.
