Doctors, paramedics hold rally to mark World Population Day.
NAWABSHAH, July 11, 2010 (Balochistan Times): Doctors, paramedics
and members of Population Welfare Department organised a rally to
celebrate the World Population Day here on Sunday. The rally led by MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio commenced from the office of Population Welfare
Department and terminated at Nawabshah Press Club. Addressing the
occasion MPA Chandio said that population of the country was multiplying
without check and it must be controlled according to resources of the
country. He said that the country could prosper if its population growth
is kept within limits. He said that unchecked increase in population is
the basic and major cause making the country unable to bring relief to
the common man despite its development. District Population Welfare
Officer said that the aim of our endeavour is to make the mother and
child healthy. He said that proper interval between births of children
would certainly improve the health of mother and she would be capable to
take appropriate care of her children. Pakistan according to population
ranking is on sixth number in the world with 180.40 million population.
Figures show that population in Pakistan is increasing by 4% annually.
Population Department sources said that just 24% families are enjoying
the benefits of family planning.
