Do you remember?

YOU might not expect to find one of Britain's greatest soccer managers taking the plunge at a swimming pool in Cwmbran. But that's exactly what happened in November 1974 when Brian Clough - who later made Nottingham Forest the best team in Europe - rolled into town.

His visit to Cwmbran's new swimming pool meant he fulfilled a promise he had made to the town when the pool's foundation stone was laid - to swim the first length when it was finished.

But in typical Clough style, he refused to give any indication about his future following his sacking from Leeds earlier in the year.
