Byline: Leanne Palin
Prepare to do the Walk of Life right down to the Lyceum Theatre when a top Dire Straits tribute band comes to town.
Money For Nothing (MFN) is described as tribute to Dire Straits 'like no other before' with authentic sounds of one of the most successful rock bands of all time.
They perform at the Crewe theatre on June 22.
The high quality show pays meticulous attention to every detail, to faithfully recreate the distinct sound of Dire Straits in an unforgettable sonic spectacular.
Performing Money for Nothing, Romeo and Juliet, Sultans of Swing, Private Investigations, So Far Away and many more much-loved classics drawn from six platinum albums, the band feature all of their legendary hits, with the audience being treated to those soaring guitar solos and instantly recognisable riffs by an incredibly talented band.
Aled Williams performs lead vocals and guitar. Every performer adopts a style and technique that invariably is drawn from familiarity with that of a mentor/idol, in Aled's case this is undoubtedly Mark Knopfler.
His ability to recreate the guitar work, voice and illusion of Dire Straits front man is extraordinary. Aled has studied Knopfler in great detail to be as close as possible to the real thing -- not just vocally and in Mark's trade-mark shirt, but to his guitar playing and technique.
Any devout 'Straits' fan is sure to agree that he is barely distinguishable from the real thing.
Derek Bisset is on drums. Not content with being musical director and band leader, drummer Derek lends his considerable ability and power to an already formidable line up.
A real professional, his track record is highly impressive and lengthy and with such a dedicated and accomplished musician in charge, the inevitable result is a premier Dire Straits tribute band.
His passion for music is clear and strives to re-create MFN to be the close as possible to the real thing. Derek is also one of South Wales' most respected and sought after drum teachers.
Bassist Paul Guy has attained a level of competence that ideally suits this band. With his roots now firmly in the Cardiff area his consistently solid backing has enabled MFN to confidently produce the unique feel of the Dire Straits line. His professionalism and dedication means he has been a founder member of MFN along with Derek.
Finally Lisa-Marie has been performing for many years and has years of experience on the live circuit.
She has performed all over the UK and abroad and also performed in concert with the likes of Will Young to Slade and TNT, plus performances for Rick Wakeman and another for the Cast of BBC1's Eastenders. She is a Huge MFN and Dire Straits fan and is clearly passionate about music and a dedicated professional.
