Do it! Jobs for the week.

EASY

SPRAY established roses with multi-functional Rose Clear 3 to controls pests and diseases in one application.

PLANT outdoor tomatoes (right) in a sunny sheltered spot. When the first truss sets, feed fruit every 10 days with Liquid Tomorite for a bumper crop.

ON a sunny patio, plant up pots with a trendy mixture of easy-to-grow bedding in fiery colours. Team dwarf dahlias and dinky sunflowers in warm vibrant shades of red, yellow and orange with coleus and French marigolds.

EFFORT

SOW wallflowers (right) now for plants of an ideal size to transplant in early September.

TREAT weedy lawns with Verdone Extra to get rid of difficult small-leaved weeds such as black medick, common mouse-ear and lesser trefoil as well as the ordinary ones such as dandelions, daisies and buttercups.

KEEP on top of weeds in flowerbeds and borders. Hoe soil when the surface is dry and on hot sunny days - or when there's a good breeze - and weeds will soon wilt, shrivel and die.

TOUGH

TRAIN new wisteria growth for a strong framework. On walls take main growth upwards and space other shoots horizontal on wires.

CLIP that unruly hedge. Stretch a taut, level string between two posts as a guideline for the highest point. Cut along this line, keeping the blades parallel to it at all times, then neatly trim the sides.

INSTALL an arch to frame a view out into the garden and festoon with fragrant and colourful honeysuckle, roses and clematis.
