Diversions due to roadworks.

WORKS have begun on Consort Street in Penrhiwceiber as part of Rhondda Cynon Taf council's ongoing pounds 9m highways investment scheme this year.

Drivers have been warned to look out for diversions as the pounds 100,000 scheme is expected to last a week.

Work is then scheduled to switch to George Street in Penrhiwceiber and Milbourne Street in Abercynon.

Councillor Andrew Morgan said Consort Street was just one of more than 370 roads to either be resurfaced, renewed or surface dressed since April 2011.

Some 60,000 potholes have also been repaired, while 67 footways are earmarked for major repairs.

Coun Morgan said: "The council has invested over pounds 19m in our highways infrastructure and is planning to invest further to improve infrastructure in the coming years."
