Dive death: Cops seize equipment; AUSTRALIA.

POLICE investigating the death of backpacker Elaine Morrow have seized the diving equipment she was using on her ill-fated trip.

Australian cops are carrying out tests on the scuba gear to find out how the Donegal girl drowned during an introductory class off the Whitsunday Islands.

Elaine, 23, from Ballintra, was found unconscious on the ocean floor and died despite desperate efforts to resuscitate her.

A spokesman for the Whitsundays Water Police said: "The tests could take a couple of weeks. It is too early to tell what happened."

A postmortem was carried out yesterday. The results are not likely to be released until next week but police said the body will be released to the family as soon as possible.
