Distinguished Achievement Awards.

The Distinguished Achievement Award recognizes outstanding service to AMT and its members at the state level. Award recipients are nominated by the state society.

Diana Castro, RPT, Tucson, AZ, was certified in 2002. Diana has earned many awards such as the Rousch Award for Phlebotomist of the Year in both 2007 and 2009. She was also rewarded the Certificate of Appreciation from 2003 to 2008. She attended the University of Colorado andworks as the Patient Service Representative at J2 Laboratories in Tucson, AZ.

Susan Constable, MT, Winslow, ME ,was certified in 1997. Susan earned her BS in Management and Human Resources at Park University in May of 2010. She has held many state positions such as board member, proctor chair and vice president of Maine and New Hampshire state society. Susan has also been a member of numerous committees such as the nominating committee. In 2004, she was awarded the state Technologist of the Year Award. Today, Susan is the Lead Technologist of Transfusion Services at Inland Hospital located in Waterville, ME.

Richard Cruz, MLT, Fenton, MI, was certified in 1968. He received MLT training at the Carnegie College for Medical Technology. He has served as a past board member and vice president of the Michigan state society. He has also worked as a Generalist at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital as well as the Chief Medical Examiner Investigator at the Livingston County Medical Examiner's Office.

Marc Derenthal, RMA, Ann Arbor, MI, was certified in 1994. He has had varied educational background including a Catholic Seminary School and the State University of New York. He was a board member of the Michigan state society from 2001-2011. For 5 years, Marc also served as a Sergeant-at-Arms for state meetings.

Solomon Goldenberg, RMA, Davie, FL, was certified in 2001. In both 2006 and 2009, he earned the AMT 1st place Feature Writing Award. Solomon has also spoken at numerous AMT conferences on a wide range of topics. He currently works as a Senior Medical Assistant and Radiology Technologist at the Neurology Associates Group in North Miami Beach, FL.

Yolanda Gomez, RPT, Tucson, AZ, was certified in 2002. Yolanda earned several certificates such as the Certificate of Appreciation and the Certificate from American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians. Yolanda has been a member of her state's auditing committee. She has also received the Roush Award for the Phlebotomist of the Year in both 2006 and 2008. Today, she works as the Patient Services Representative at J2 Laboratories located in Tucson, AZ.

Jennifer Grogan, RMA, RPT, COLT, Wyckoff, NJ, was certified in 2003, 2007 and 2008. Jennifer attended the Hohokus School for Medical and Secretarial Sciences. She served as the New Jersey state society's vice president, chair of scientific meeting and proctor chair and works as the Laboratory Manager at the Valley Diagnostic Medical Center located in Ramsey, NJ.

Susan Haubrich, RMA, AHI, Valley Park, MO, was certified by AMT in 1994. She received Doctors' Assistant training at Missouri College and graduated in 1994. She has served as a legislative board member of the Missouri State Society. Today, Susan is a Medical Assisting Instructor at Missouri College located in Brentwood, MO.

Gracie Johnson, RPT, Gun Barrel City, TX, has been certified for 12 years. Gracie earned a Phlebotomy degree at the Tyler Junior College as well as NCT Radiology training in Rockwell, TX. Gracie has been a part of the membership committee of the Texas state society. She has held various nursing positions including a Phlebotomist, X-Ray Technician and Medical Assistant at the Bennie Embry Doctor's Office located in Gun Barrel City, TX.

Christina Mahon, RMA, Layton, UT, was certified in 2002. She attended The Bryman School where she earned her Medical Assistant Certificate. Christina is currently the Utah state society treasurer and past secretary. Today, Christina works as a Medical Assistant at the University of Utah Health Care School of Medicine in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Rikki Packer, RMA, Foley, AL, was certified in 2000. She is currently enrolled at Faulkner State Community College to further her education as a Laboratory Technologist. She is the current vice president of the Alabama state society. Today, Rikki works as a Patient Service Technician at Lab Corporation in Loxley, Alabama.

Rachael Porlas, RMA, Albuquerque, NM, was certified in 1994. She is the current treasurer of the New Mexico state society. Rachael completed her RMA training at Ross Medical Education Center located in Saginaw, Michigan, and earned her associate's degree at the Delta College in University Center, Michigan. In 2008, she received the Crystal Service Award in recognition of her many years of service. Today, Rachael works as a Medical Assistant at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Linda Ruggles, RMA, Hudson, MI, was certified in 1995. She attended Ohio State University where she earned a degree in pre-nursing and later attended Ross Medical University where she earned her certification. Linda has been a board member of the Michigan state society since 2001 and was later named the vice president in 2009. She was also named the chairman of National Medical Assistant Week. Today, Linda works as a Medical Assistant at Thorn Health Care Center located in Hudson, MI.

Lynette Thomson, MT, Elyria, OH, was certified in 2002. She attended the School of Medical Technology of the Elyria Memorial Hospital in 1968. Lynette has earned numerous awards such as the Ohio Member of the Year Award in 2005, the Ohio Board of Directors Award in 2006 and the President of the Ohio State Society Award in 2008. Today, Lynette is a Medical Technician at the EMH Regional Medical Center located in Elyria, OH.
