Disposable Absorbent Article Having Barrier Leg Cuff and Elasticized Outer Leg Cuff: No. 7,435,243; Kouichi Miyamoto, assignor to The Procter and Gamble Company, Cincinnati, OH. Filed 12/20/02. Issued 10/14/08.

A disposable absorbent article was patented. It comprises a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet and an absorbent core disposed between them. An elasticized outer leg cuff is located adjacent to a longitudinal side edge of the absorbent article. The elasticized outer leg cuff has a base and a gasket cuff supported by the base at a joint of the base to the gasket cuff. The gasket cuff is provided with elasticity and has an inner cuff that extends laterally inwardly from the joint and an outer cuff that extends laterally outwardly from the joint. A barrier leg cuff has a proximal edge and a distal edge. The barrier leg cuff is located inboard of the gasketing cuff and the distal edge of the barrier leg cuff is spaced away from the top surface of the topsheet to form a pocket by a combination of the inner cuff, the base and the barrier leg cuff.
