Dishy female dishes.

? IT seems a new rule of TV that male chefs can be as unphotogenic as they want - think The Hairy Bikers and Gordon Ramsay - but that female cooks can only grace our screens if they are drop-dead gorgeous.

Gone are the days of Fanny Craddock and Delia Smith. Now women are only allowed to cook on TV if they're young and pretty, like Rachel Khoo with her Little Paris Kitchen and now Michela Chiappa, who presents Channel 4's Simply Italian.

Still, she seems to know her stuff and is full of tips like drying out Cheddar in the airing cupboard to make a cheap Parmesan substitute.

So why feel the need for false modesty with comments like: "If I can do this, anyone can!"
