Director of Civil Defense urge citizens to undertake vehicles safety steps and measures.

Manama, June. 13 (BNA) -- The Civil Defense General stressed the need of citizens and residents to comply with the safety requirements for vehicles, especially with the very high humidity and temperature in the Kingdom during the summer. Noting that the Directory had received 11 emergency calls since the beginning of this month reporting a car engine fire burst from different parts of the Kingdom.

The General Director explained the safety steps and measures that drivers should undergo in case of confronting risks of fire, he/she should stop the vehicle immediately at the nearest safe point, and rushes out of the vehicle along other passengers, then he/she must contact the Civil Defense force on (999). In case of minor fire that could be controlled, the driver can use the fire extinguisher available in all vehicles, bearing in mind not to open nor touch the car hood to avoid exposure to heat and prevent the fire spread.

Most fire bursts from car engines are due to simple electric wiring circuit problem that exacerbates and leads to fire outbreak, and therefore it is very important to insure the availability of a fire extinguisher in the vehicle at all times as well as learning how to use it.

Concluding his statement, the General Director urged all car owners to carryout maintenance and car services that include periodic inspections and to avoid the use of forged equipment as well as ensuring the availability of automatic fire fighting systems from the General Services Administrations.
