DirectBuy of Silicon Valley Holds Toy Drive for Toys for Tots.

Mountain View, CA, January 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- DirectBuy of Silicon Valley, the home improvement and furnishings club with confidential dealer prices, recently held a toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots and children and youth throughout the Bay area. The club's toy drive was hugely successful, receiving strong support from both staff and DirectBuy members who donated toys throughout October, November, and December 2011.

Located in Mountain View, the Silicon Valley club and owners Mark Magnani and Paul Valentino decided to not only help Toys for Tots themselves, but also to give members the opportunity to donate or select gifts pre-purchased by staff members. "We are always looking for ways to help our community, but we wanted to make it easy for our members to get involved if they wanted," said Mark Magnani. “By pre-purchasing gifts and making them available in the club, it made it much easier for guests, staff, and members to participate in the toy drive.”

The Toys for Tots program, run by the US Marine Corps Reserve, is designed to deliver new toys to needy and less fortunate youth and children during the holiday and Christmas seasons. While this annual toy collection and distribution initiative is conducted across the country in communities where a Marine Corps Reserve Unit is located, campaigns can be conducted by groups authorized by the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

The idea to help Toys for Tots and hold a toy drive was suggested during one of the Silicon Valley's weekly team meetings. From managing the donations and shopping for member-sponsored gifts, to wrapping the presents and tracking member donations, every employee from the warehouse to the receptionist helped to ensure a few more children would have gifts to open this holiday season.

“The generosity of our members was overwhelming. It was just wonderful to see how everyone pulled together to help the Shark Foundation and the Marine Corps Reserve put smiles on the faces of so many kids during the holidays,” said Mia Chung, a Sales Director at DirectBuy of Silicon Valley. “At the end of the toy drive, I know the donation box was completely full so I believe the holiday spirit we were trying to instill in our club really paid off.”
