Dinner Lady Gaga tells of X Factor whirlwind.

SHE made it through to boot camp on this year's X Factor - and Middlesbrough dinner lady Gaga Lord says she loved facing up to Simon Cowell and co.

Viewers saw Gaga - full name Jeannahlyn Alcano Lord - try to make it through to the six-chair challenge at the weekend with a rendition of Mariah Carey's We Belong Together.

But while only fellow Filipino Alisah Bonaobra made it through at Wembley after an emotional appeal to Simon Cowell, Gaga has no hard feelings at leaving the show - especially as she didn't even tell her husband Chris she was auditioning in the first place. The couple met while Teessider Chris was working in Malaysia and Gaga, who had sung in bars and hotels across Asia since she was 18, performed an enchanting version of Anita Baker's Sweet Love.

In 2006, Gaga put her singing on hold to come and live with mechanical engineer Chris on Teesside and they were married at Middlesbrough Register Office.

Five days a week, she helps serve up the school dinners at Kader Academy in Acklam.

But having recently returned to music again with local band Repertoire, she plucked up courage to attend the X Factor Middlesbrough auditions. And from that moment, she's been living an X Factor whirlwind.

When effervescent Gaga first performed for the judges at the audition stage in Edinburgh, viewers were enchanted by her version of Shirley Bassey's Bond theme Diamonds Are Forever - especially when Nicole Scherzinger and Alesha Dixon started provocatively dancing, Bondstyle, behind her.

Gaga, 41, of Acklam, laughed (she laughs a lot!): "I couldn't believe it when they did that - and now it's reached nine million viewers online! When I went in, they asked me what my dream was and I said my dream was to appear in front of them.

"I didn't even tell Chris I was going to the Middlesbrough audition. I think he was at home asleep because he had a hangover."

She's laughing again as she recalls it - but music is a serious passion for Gaga.

"I love music and singing, so it was wonderful to get so far in X Factor. I didn't expect it. Chris said to me I had nothing to lose and it was all a fantastic experience, and he was so right."

But is her name inspired by Lady Gaga? "No - Gaga is a nickname. It's a sweet name for a girl in the part of the Philippines I come from - or in Manilla, it means you're a looney tune!"
