Ding shoots up Crucible betting; SNOOKER.

DING JUNHUI held his nerve impressively to secure a second UK Championship title on Sunday night and the Chinese youngster is no bigger than 12-1 to become world champion in April, writes Steve Palmer.

Ding overcame John Higgins 10-8 in a tight final and is finally threatening to fulfil his huge potential.

Before the biggest event on the calendar at The Crucible, though, Ding has a chance to lay the ghost of Wembley, where he capitulated against Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final of The Masters in 2007.

The most successful Asian player in the sport's history is as short as 8-1 with Boylesports for The Masters (best at 12-1 with Victor Chandler), while O'Sullivan is 11-4 favourite and Higgins can be backed at 6-1 with Stan James.
