Dimension Data, Cisco Gold Partner, to Represent Expand Networks.
ROSELAND, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2001
Top Global Network Services Company to Provide Enterprise Caching
Technology in South Africa
Expand Networks, a leader in optimizing network performance, today continued its rapid global expansion with the announcement of a major distribution agreement with Dimension Data South Africa, a subsidiary of London-listed Dimension Data Holdings plc, a global network services provider with 12,000 employees operating in over 30 countries on six continents.
Under the terms of the agreement, Dimension Data will offer Expand Networks' Enterprise Caching suite of products to its clients in South Africa, providing them with a network optimization solution that enables performance boosts of up to 400 percent, and often more. The agreement could later be extended to Dimension Data's operations in Latin America and other parts of the world.
As enterprises increasingly rely on high-bandwidth applications like ERP, CRM, Thin Client and Voice Over IP for the success of their operations, they are searching for reliable, cost-effective solutions for maintaining optimal network performance. In response to this growing need, Dimension Data will offer Expand Networks' award winning ACCELERATOR solutions including the 4000TM for line speeds up to 2.049 Mbps and the 2750TM for line speeds up to 512 Kbps. The Expand solution increases network speed, capacity and throughput by an average of 100 to 400 percent or more, providing a vital business solution for enterprises facing constrained networks or limited access to costly additional bandwidth.
"Optimal network performance is vital for business success in today's economy. Expand Networks' Enterprise Caching Technology is an excellent solution for our clients' network performance issues. It allows them to maximize existing network infrastructure without buying or leasing costly or hard to find additional infrastructure," said Neill Hart, group executive: technology & strategy, Dimension Data Network Services, South Africa. "Expand's suite of products offers our customers a proven and cost-effective way to maximize network performance."
Dimension Data (London Stock Exchange: DDT) is one of the largest Cisco Systems' `Gold Partners' with 1,200 engineers certified by Cisco. The company works with leading organizations around the globe and recently expanded its North American reach through agreements to acquire 100 percent of two Charlotte, North Carolina-based companies, Premier Systems Integrators and Matrix Networking Group for over US$150 million in cash.
"The partnership with Dimension Data is a significant step for Expand Networks. Through Dimension Data, we can deliver our network optimization solutions to top enterprises in a range of industries. This solution is particularly important in rapidly developing markets like South Africa where bandwidth can often be very costly or difficult to obtain," said Talmon Marco, president and co-founder of Expand Networks. "Expand's continued growth has come through partnerships with top companies like Dimension Data that provide their customers with the latest in innovative technologies."
Expand Networks' Enterprise Caching solution has been deployed by FORTUNE 1000 corporations and major government agencies. Enterprise Caching takes the principles of caching and extends them to the entire enterprise. For example, suppose an enterprise runs a Citrix application in a distributed environment. Expand Networks' Enterprise Caching Technology will cache the content that is sent from the Citrix server to the user. So, if multiple users continuously run Microsoft(R) Word, Expand's technology will move the repeated content to the edge of the network. The end result is an average 100 to 400 per cent performance boost for the Citrix application.
