Dillard's sales off 8 percent in March.
Sales of about $1.2 billion for the nine-week period were off 2 percent on a comparable-store and total basis when compared with sales of about $1.3 billion for the nine weeks ended April 3, 2004.
March sales in the East were significantly above the company's average trend, while sales were in line with trend in the West, but below trend in the Central states.
Lingerie, accessories, shoes and cosmetics sales were above average, but women's apparel and men's apparel were significantly below trend.
