Digital control for Placer Dome. (Contracts).

Hepburn Engineering has installed a new PLC-based control system for Placer Dome's Campbell mine #3 shaft at Balmertown, Ontario, Canada. The double-drum hoist can now be operated either from the local console or from a remote central hoist room via a fibre optic network connection. The Hepburn Hoist Manager operating system software provides a real time graphical interface with layered information system, including on-line presentation of maintenance manuals and drawings, integrated with detailed fault recording and status of all system inputs and outputs. In addition, remote access to the hoist control system via modem allows for remote on-line technical support.
