Business Editors & High-Tech Writers

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2000

Digital Origin (Nasdaq:DODV) announced today that its EditDV 2.0 for Windows, the industry leader for high-performance video editing on the desktop, is now compatible with the DVRaptor IEEE 1394 capture card from Canopus Corp., a global designer of graphics and video editing products.

"Anyone serious about using digital video has got to add EditDV to their Raptor library of content creation tools," said Tom Fristoe, Digital Origin's vice president of marketing and business development. "This teaming of products brings together two video tools that work flawlessly for the benefit of users who want to take full advantage of the DV format and quality of video," he said. "And you can't beat the value of this combination," he added.

Designed with native support for the unique architecture of digital video, EditDV offers DVRaptor users non-square pixel support, luma clamping control, DraftDV rendering and lightning-fast performance thanks to DV-optimized codecs. EditDV combined with the DVRaptor capture card makes an extremely responsive and affordable platform for video editing.

Developed with careful assistance from the Canopus engineering team, EditDV can be installed alongside Canopus Raptor Edit and Adobe Premiere.

"True to our pro-option philosophy, this announcement extends the tools available to our customers," said Jan Piros, vice president of marketing at Canopus Corp. "EditDV gives users an excellent video editing tool to add to their stable of video editing and effects gear."

To kick off the new product alliance, Digital Origin is slashing the price of its EditDV 2.0 software from $599 to $199 for existing Canopus DVRaptor users. This limited time offer is designed to encourage Canopus DVRaptor users to add EditDV to their video toolbox. New users will also receive a free copy of Sonic Foundry Sound Forge XP(4.5) and a selection of 50 SpiceRack Pro plug-in effects from Pixelan Software.

Canopus Corp. is also offering a special promotion to kick off the partnership. The company is offering a $150 discount on DVRaptor to existing EditDV users. EditDV users can purchase DVRaptor direct from Canopus for only $399, reduced from $549.

Recognized for reliability and an innovative hardware design employing a high-speed software codec, Canopus DVRaptor combines stability with advanced features such as real-time, full-screen preview, giving DVRaptor industry-wide acceptance.
