Dickinson leads the way in county bowls finals.

THE Cleveland County Bowling Association competition finals were held at Thornaby Indoor Bowling Centre.

The men's Senior title was won by John Dickinson against national champion Alan Hind 21-18.

John also went on to take the Men's singles 21-19 against Steve Slaughter. He led 10-1 but Slaughter rallied to lead 12-11.

Dickinson kept his nerve to make the win against a very difficult opponent. Adrian Kidd, Lisa Simpson and Rob Carson took the mixed triples 22-12 against Ian Marshall and Lisa also went on to win the ladies triples accompanied by Jackie Carson and Inga Gillespie 26-3 against Sharon Jacobs and made a trio of wins in the ladies pairs with Barbara Ward 17-9 against Inga Gillespie and Jackie Carson.

The men's triples saw Steve Slaughter against John Dickinson again with their respective teams. In a very tight game Steve (M Higgins, G Cockerill) won a last end thriller 22-16.

Joe Dadd led the under 25 singles against Miles Simpson-Kidd from the start and finished winning 21-16, and the Men's pairs saw the two youngsters team up to play against Miles's dad Adrian Kidd and Ian Marshall.

The older pair took the game 18-10. The ladies singles was won by Ann Longmoor against Sandra Hindmarch 21-3 and in mixed pairs Alan Hind and Susan Pierson won 23 - 4 against John Dickinson and Lillian Fletcher.

All of the winners will represent Cleveland at the national finals in Newark starting April 23.
