Diaz's ex is Colin's 'gay love'.
Byline: MIRROR REPORTERRANDY Colin Farrell is set to embark on a gay affair with screen beauty Cameron Diaz's jilted former lover Jared Leto.
But the 27-year-old Irish star isn't changing his skirt-chasing ways.
Leto will play Farrell's gay lover in the big budget Hollywood epic Alexander, in which the Dublin-born actor plays the legendary bisexual Macedonian conqueror.
Director Oliver stone has cast 31-year-old Leto as Hephaistion, Alexander's top general and his life-long companion.
A studio executive admitted: "Leto's role touches on one of the more sensitive plot points of both Stone's Alexander picture and the rival saga being mounted by director Baz Luhrmann - the conqueror's wide-ranging sexual interests."
It is the first major film role in a while for Leto, who has been recording an album and touring with rock band 30 Seconds to Mars, for which he sings lead vocals.
Leto is getting over a broken heart after he was given the elbow by Gangs of New York beauty Diaz, 30, when she took up with her new toyboy lover Justin Timberlake, 22, after he split from Britney Spears.
Leto last starred in Panic Room and Requiem for a Dream. He got his big break co-starring in the war drama The Thin Red line in 1998.
Also in the cast are Angelina Jolie as Alexander's mother and Sir Anthony Hopkins as the general and future pharaoh Ptolemy.
