Diamonds welcome back former team-mates; SPEEDWAY.
THE Newcastle Diamonds welcome some familiar faces to Brough Park tomorrow as the Eastbourne Eagles include no fewer than three ex-Diamond riders.
Alfie Bowtell, Lewis Kerr and Kyle Newman have all donned a Diamonds racesuit at one time or another and they will all be determined to score well against their former employers.
The Eagles will be without their number one, Edward Kennett, after he was banned for his participation in ugly scenes during the Championship Shield match at Arlington a fortnight ago and they bring in Nick Morris as a guest.
Richard Lawson knows the Brough Park track well and Georgie Wood and Jason Edwards complete their line-up.
Edwards finished runner-up in the British Under-19 Final on Thursday at Redcar after collecting 14 points, so will be full of confidence.
Eagles Team manager Trevor Geer has not totally given up hope of making the end-of-season league play-offs, saying "mathematically if we could win the three away matches this weekend and our remaining home League Fixtures the play offs are still possible".
Diamonds team manager George English said: "They will arrive at Brough having ridden on Friday and Saturday, but with so many track experts in their side, it will make life tough for us, but I am confident we can bounce back from our recent defeats."
The Diamonds will be unchanged. Diamonds: Steve Worrall, Ulrich Ostergaard, Lasse Bjerre, Matty Wethers, Thomas Jorgensen, Max Clegg, Danny Phillips.
Eastbourne: Nick Morris, Georgie Wood, Kyle Newman, Lewis Kerr, Richard Lawson, Alfie Bowtell, Jason Edwards.
