Diamond Multimedia and Psygnosis Announce Exclusive Agreement to Bundle Hit PC Title Destruction Derby with 3D Multimedia Accelerators; Diamond and Psygnosis Push the Envelope of PC Gaming with Cutting-Edge 3D Hardware and Software.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1996--Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: DIMD) today announced an agreement with Psygnosis, Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Corporation of America, for the right to bundle the hit PC title Destruction Derby with select models of its Diamond EDGE 3D and Diamond Stealth 3D accelerators.

The three month exclusive bundling agreement underscores both companies commitment to bring the excitement of cutting-edge 3D gaming to the PC.

Destruction Derby offers the player three cars to drive, covering `novice,' `pro' and 'expert' skill levels, and five tracks to race on, plus an open-arena option in the no-rules crunch zone known as `The Bowl.' With the Diamond EDGE 3D and Diamond Stealth 3D accelerators, PC users will be thrilled with high resolution graphics, superior color depth, and on-the-fly transitions, making game play an experience with graphically-intensive, realistic crashes and explosively speedy competitions.

"We are very pleased to be partnering with Psygnosis to bring a new realm of realistic, high performance gaming to the PC," said Ken Wirt, vice president of marketing for Diamond Multimedia. "By combining advanced 3D accelerator technology with proven entertainment software like Destruction Derby, Diamond and Psygnosis will provide gamers with the ultimate arcade experience on their PC."

"Bringing arcade-style gaming to the PC is a goal that Psygnosis is fully committed to," said Psygnosis marketing director, Paul Duncanson. "By partnering with a cutting-edge hardware company like Diamond, Psygnosis can push PC gaming to the limits."

Since its release for the Sony PlayStation and PC, Destruction Derby has received rave reviews from both the media and die-hard gamers for its incredibly realistic crashes and intense feeling of real in-the-driver-seat racing. "Destruction Derby makes no secret of its game play hook: complete and total devastation," said Next Generation. Electronic Gaming Monthly wrote, "This is stock-car racing on steroids."
